Industrial drones

Working aircraft for working industries: heavy lift, survey, inspection and multi-function drones built for daily professional use.

Industrial drones

What makes a drone industrial?

Consumer drones are built to take pictures. Industrial drones are built to do jobs, day after day, carrying payloads that earn their keep: cargo, LiDAR, thermal cameras, spray systems, loudspeakers and searchlights. They are judged on payload, endurance, reliability, maintainability and support, not on how small they fold.

Industrial drone categories

Heavy lift and cargo

Moving materials, tools and supplies where vehicles cannot go easily. See heavy lift drones and cargo drones.

Survey and mapping

Carrying LiDAR and photogrammetry payloads to produce terrain models, volumes and maps. See survey drones and mapping drones.

Inspection

Thermal and zoom cameras for power lines, pipelines, turbines, solar farms and structures. See inspection drones.

Multi-function and public safety

Loudspeakers, searchlights and drop mechanisms for rescue and security. See the MX4-10 and SY800.

Agriculture

Spraying and spreading. See the TTA G300.

What industrial buyers should evaluate

CriterionQuestions to ask
PayloadWhat is the typical and maximum load? What interfaces are available?
EnduranceWhat flight time can I expect at my load, temperature and altitude?
RedundancyHow many motors? What happens if one fails?
Environmental protectionRain, dust, salt, heat and cold ratings?
MaintainabilityHow easy is it to replace arms, motors and propellers? Are spares available?
BatteriesPack size, charge time, cycle life, transport rules?
IntegrationCan it carry my sensor? Is payload power available?
SupportWho helps when something goes wrong?
ComplianceWill my regulator approve this aircraft for my operation?

Our industrial drone guide goes through each criterion.

Building an industrial drone programme

Successful programmes treat drones like any other industrial equipment:

  1. Define use cases and the value each delivers
  2. Select platforms that match the use cases
  3. Secure approvals before operations start
  4. Train crews and write operating procedures
  5. Set up maintenance, including logs, inspections and spares
  6. Manage data for survey and inspection outputs
  7. Review and scale what works

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between commercial and industrial drones?

The terms overlap. "Industrial" usually means heavier-duty platforms for construction, energy, mining and similar sectors. "Commercial" covers any business use. See commercial drones.

Can industrial drones fly in rain?

Only if rated for it. Check each model's protection rating, and ask us before planning wet-weather operations.

Do you supply sensors and cameras?

Payloads are configured to order. Tell us your sensor requirements and we will advise on integration.

Do you offer maintenance support?

We supply spares and remote technical support, and can advise on maintenance schedules.

Ready to talk numbers?

Tell us what you need: quantity, configuration and destination. We'll reply with a written quotation.
