Buying a payload drone the right way
The wrong way to buy a payload drone is to choose the one with the biggest number on its spec sheet. The right way is to start with the job: what you need to carry, how far, how often, in what conditions and under which regulations. Then choose the aircraft that does that job comfortably, with the batteries, spares and support to keep it flying.
That is how we sell drones. Every quote is mission-specific.

Our buying process
1. Tell us the mission
- Payload: what, and how heavy (typical and maximum)
- Distance: per flight, and whether it is within visual line of sight
- Frequency: flights per day and days per year
- Environment: altitude, temperature, wind, rain, dust, salt
- Country: so we can flag regulatory and import considerations
2. We recommend a system
The aircraft, battery sets, chargers, payload interface, spares kit and transport cases sized to your operation.
3. Written quotation
Price, realistic payload and endurance for your mission, lead time, Incoterms and freight. Flight times are manufacturer figures adjusted for your conditions.
4. Confirm and pay
A proforma invoice with payment details.
5. Shipping
Aircraft and accessories by sea, air or express. Lithium batteries as Class 9 dangerous goods (UN3480/UN3481), packed and declared correctly.
6. Setup and support
Documentation, remote setup guidance, spares and technical help. Training can be arranged.
Before you buy: regulations
Heavy-lift drones are professional aircraft. Before buying, confirm you can legally operate the aircraft for your mission:
- United States: Part 107 covers drones under 55 lb. Heavier aircraft need an exemption, and agricultural dispensing needs Part 137.
- EU and UK: the open category stops at 25 kg MTOW. Heavy-lift operations need an operational authorisation in the specific category.
- Elsewhere: see your country's aviation authority on our shipping destination pages.
- Import restrictions: some countries, such as India, restrict drone imports.
Our resources page links to the major regulators.
Total cost of ownership
The airframe is only part of the budget. Plan for:
| Item | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Battery sets | Continuous operation needs several sets cycling through charging |
| Chargers | Charging capacity must keep up with flying |
| Propellers and arms | Wear items and crash spares |
| Payload interface | Hooks, release mechanisms, mounts, sensors |
| Transport cases | Protect the aircraft between sites |
| Training | Competent pilots and crews |
| Insurance | Liability and hull cover |
| Approvals | Time and cost of regulatory applications |
