The best payload drones by mission

There is no single "best payload drone". There is the best drone for a particular mission. A 70 kg octocopter is the wrong tool for dropping bait off a beach, and a fishing drone cannot carry a generator up a mountain. This guide matches the drones in our range to the missions they do best, and explains why.

How we judged "best"

For each mission, the best drone:

• Carries the typical payload comfortably, not just at its absolute limit
• Has the right range and endurance for the mission profile
• Has the right payload interface (hook, tank, mount, module)
• Suits the environment (altitude, weather, water)
• Is practical to operate and maintain

Flight times and ranges below are manufacturer figures, which fall with payload, wind and cold.

Best for the heaviest loads: THEA 200MP

Payload: 70 kg · Endurance: up to 45 min (rated) · Layout: coaxial octocopter

When the load is heavy, such as generators, cable drums or bulk relief supplies, the THEA 200MP is the strongest platform in our range. Its coaxial layout packs eight motors into a four-arm frame for thrust and redundancy.

Choose it if: you regularly lift more than 50 kg, or need a large margin.

Best for long-distance and high-altitude cargo: D50

Payload: 50 kg · Range: 10 km · Altitude rating: 5000 m

The D50 Transport Drone is built for routes, not shuttles: mountain stations, islands and remote sites. Its 5000 m rating makes it unusual among heavy lifters.

Choose it if: your cargo travels kilometres, or you operate at altitude.

Best all-round heavy lifter: P50

Best for agriculture: TTA G300

Tank: 30 L · Work rate: about 24 acres/hour (rated) · Layout: 6-axis

The TTA G300 is purpose-built for spraying and seed spreading. General heavy lifters are not a substitute for a dedicated spray system.

Best for survey and LiDAR: GAIA 160MP
